NEEDTOBREATHE, Switchfoot - The Anthem, Washington, D.C. - 10/10/21
The stage at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. was lit up for yet an another amazing night. The crowd was electric and yet calming at the same time. The band, The New Respects, opened up the night with an electric and firey, exciting performance. They took the stage and grabbed onto the energy of the crowd and really got the night started in the best way. Followed was the legendary band, Switchfoot. Hearing Switchfoot for years and never having the chance to see them in person was exciting. I was unsure what to expect but it exceeded any possible expectation. The lights went up and the energy never stopped. There were multiple fan made flags that made their way to the stage that said “WHERE I BELONG” that frontman, Jon Foreman, proudly waved and kept on stage. Towards the third song of the set, we were greeted by a bright disco ball and bubbles, and members of The New Respects. It was so incredibly fun to partake in. Finally, we got to NEEDTOBREATHE. The atmosphere was unforgettable, warm, and excited. The large screens behind the band displayed multiple cameras on stage and towards that crowd that really made this stage and venue feel even larger that it already it. They took the crowds energy and guided it throughout their entire set, it was truly indescribable.
