Traveling Adventures By Disney as a Young Adult in 2022
As a 25 year old with zero experience traveling internationally, there are a number of ways to go about traveling across the world. Was it backpacking? Hostel hopping? The list could go on. The one thing I did know is that Ireland had been on the top of my travel destination lists. My dearest friend from college and I met in Tampa, Florida where we shared an insane number of weekend trips to Disney World. When I transferred colleges and moved to Orlando, Disney World was now our meeting ground so it holds a great place in my heart and in our friendship. Enter Adventures By Disney
Adventures By Disney prides itself on their authenticity, adventure guides, hassle-free travel, insider access, magical moments, and fun for everyone. Now thinking in a typical sense, Disney carries the weight of “child-like” state on it’s back - would I want to travel to Ireland, the place of copious amounts of alcohol, on a children’s trip? Did I want Mickey Mouse at the forefront of my Irish getaway? Only a few of the questions that crossed my mind but I’m sure many others have thought so I wanted to break down my personal experience to share with other twenty-somethings contemplating booking their trip through Adventures By Disney.
My friend and I traveled on a typical ABD adventure, so we were aware that there would be some number of children on the trip. My friend traveling on a previous adventure to Italy didn’t deal with more than 3 kids and some trips have 1 but we had 11. About half of our group. For those weary of any kids at all, have no fear ABD does host adult exclusive adventures as well as private tours. But being an auntie myself and my friend being a teacher, we didn’t fear being around children on vacation as most twenty-somethings would. That being said, no one can guarantee well-behaved children, especially sleepy, jet-lagged ones at that. From what we gathered from other folks on the trip and different sites, you are able to ask ABD ahead of time the number and age of kids that are booked on your trip which for those weary of being in a group of kids that could help you clear that up for you.

The activities and excursions that are curated throughout the entire Ireland trip are immersive and unique. Traveling on my own with my own itinerary, there is no way I would’ve dreamt and then planned all of these. Luckily, with ABD you don’t have to. These excursions are designed to entice the whole family, not just the kiddos. Reflecting on my trip one of my favorite activities they had planned was the Hurling lessons on a pitch! I am not a huge sports junkie but I did my fair share of sports as a kid so I loved learning about a sport I had never even heard of. Then we were able to take our shots, literally, on people who had played their whole life. Another activity that was a favorite as a twenty-something was the Whiskey Chocolate Pairing tasting. We hopped on the bus and made our way through Teeling Whiskey Distillery in Dublin. Of course the kids were given mocktails but we soaked up the glory of 11 a.m. as anyone should while they’re in Ireland.
Let’s talk about price. As a twenty-something, it definitely is on the higher end of cost for traveling across ireland. There’s no secret in that. But, evaluating the level of service we received from every single person we encountered along the way as well as the food we ate, the hotels we stayed in, and the travel throughout the country it felt worth it. The hotel stays alone were a dream come true. All three hotels: The Westin, Dublin, Killarney Park Hotel and Dromoland Castle are top tier hotels I never in a million years would’ve booked. The current price for the ABD Ireland Adventure for 2023 is $5,599 USD. Add on top of the airfare which is not included but the ABD Air Travel team does work on those accommodations for you. Add gratuities for your Adventure Guides. Add meals not included. So depending on the variables of the previous additions, you’re looking at ~$6,000 for this trip, not including the 10lbs of souvenirs you buy at the Cliffs of Moher gift shop on the last day.
Overall, I think that Adventures By Disney is a hidden gem for twenty-somethings. It’s not super publicized for our age demographic. There is built in free time to work in personal adventures, if you so desire or have the energy after their itinerary. You stay in gorgeous hotels that treat you like royalty. You eat more high quality food than you can even comprehend. You meet locals to the country you travel to and learn about the culture through their personal touches. The Adventure Guides have suggestions and answers to any question you can even think of. They immerse you into culture and introduce you to people who feel like family every step of the way. You travel without any hassle, you don’t have a chance to remember you’re hungry, and you are just enjoying the time and space and people that you’re with. For a twenty-something, this was an incredible way to see a country, learn a country and feel like I was on my own little adventure.
