Re-Entry Tour - The Anthem, Washington, D.C. - 09/30/21
The stage at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. was lit up Thursday night. The Re-Entry Tour featured A Day To Remember, Asking Alexandria, and Point North. The theater was filled of vibrant faces, or masked faces, but the energy and excitement was still high and mighty. As concerts are underway in Washington, with masks and proof of vaccination/negative test, the city continued with beaming with excitement.
The tour opened up with California boys, Point North. They guys set the stage with the energy and got the crowd moving. They played my personal favorite track from them, “Gasoline.” They ended their set with a cover of an amazing track from nothing, nowhere called “Hammer.” The tracks from these guys are only signs that they are headed north and on the up and up.
Next on the stage was the ever so iconic Asking Alexandria. The boys of Asking Alexandria performed on the eve of their latest album release, See What’s On The Inside. Lead singer, Danny Worsnop, joked about the crowd pre-saving and forming their opinions of the album themselves. He also noted the lack of Ben Bruce on the stage, as he and his family were welcoming a new baby. Overall, their performance was everything to be expected. They have always taken every stage by storm and made it their own. The band was all over the stage and keeping the party going. They ended their set with a killer track, Alone in the Room.
We then welcomed the iconic A Day To Remember to stage. Their stage backdrops visuals were similar to what you see on their album artwork for “You’re Welcome” as they entered the stage through a identical arch lit up. They opened their set with “Right Back At It Again”, as they were doing just that. As someone who has never seen ADTR live before, I was excited to visualize many of their songs I have heard for so many years in person. They had toilet paper, confetti, and balls all flying during various songs that kept the crowd on their toes. They did a fabulous job mixing older fan favorites and newer releases, often mentioning it being the first time they’ve played many songs in years. They “closed” their set with “The Plot to Bomb the Panhandle” and then returned for an encore with the iconic tracks: “If It Means a Lot to You”, “Sometimes You're the Hammer, Sometimes You're the Nail", and “The Downfall of Us All.”
